Skilled to Build Michigan Foundation is continuing to cultivate, educate and recruit with the help of a $2M grant
We were fortunate to receive a $2M grant from the state of Michigan in October 2022. We used the funds to print 570,000 books entitled, Build Your Future, Your Complete Guide to a Career in Skilled Trades. This book was delivered to students in grades 8-12 with the goal of helping to build the pipeline for career and technical education programs where they are available.
The book goes hand in hand with our industry recognized credential, which currently has 219 students enrolled. Our goal is to open up the program to even more students in the 23/24 school year.
Skilled to Build Michigan Foundation has for applied for a $2.7M grant, and if awarded, we would have the capability to distribute this book to 113,000 students in 8th grade in 2024.
We also requested grant funds to distribute 428,000 Activity Books for the Skilled Trades to students in grades 3-6 for Careers in Construction month in October.
