Skilled to Build Michigan Foundation is approved by the Michigan Department of Education to certify individuals, which will help prepare them for a career in the skilled trades. The 2022 school year marked the first year of the credential program with 219 participants. The certification exam consists of 100 questions and assesses knowledge and skills for the following weighted industry standards:

- HVAC
- Personal & Occupational Health
- Hand Tool Safety
- Power Tool Safety
- Trenching & Excavating
- Construction Drawings
- Codes
- Site Preparation
- Foundation/ Subflooring
- Framing
- Windows & Doors
- Roofing
Upon receiving a Skilled to Build Michigan Foundation Residential Construction Skills Certification, earners will be able to opt-in to getting connected with employers across the state who are interested in hiring a credentialed person. This is a great way to begin building a career.
